Have a Heart youth meeting game
It's the week before Valentine's day and we've already been
inundated with red and pink hearts, chocolate, candy and greeting
cards. Instead of taking it all in stride do something new this
year! At your next youth meeting play this game and focus kids on
having a heart for others and a heart for Jesus.
Supplies
Red paper and scissors
Set Up
Cut out 15 one-inch hearts for each person.
The Game
Each person collects as many hearts as possible. Each person
starts with 15 hearts.
Say: Each of you has fifteen hearts to start
this game. Put any number of those hearts in your right hand and
close your hand over them so no one can see how many you're
holding. Keep the extras in your left hand. Then you'll walk up to
someone and ask them to guess how many hearts you're holding in
your right hand.
If they guess the right number of hearts in your right hand you
have to give them all the hearts. If they guess wrong, they have to
give you the number of hearts they guessed from their own
hearts.
At the end we'll see who has the most hearts. If you run
completely out of hearts you can ask people who still have hearts
to give you some of theirs. Those people may or may not choose to
help you out.
Start the game After time goes by and everyone
has had a chance to play and exchange hearts (maybe 3-5 minutes)
call "Time!" and ask everyone to sit down. Find out who has the
most hearts and declare them the Have a Heart winner.
Discussion
What was it like when you started losing your hearts?
What was it like to win a bunch of hearts?
What was it like when you asked someone to give you some hearts
and he or she would or wouldn't?
What are ways God wants us to share our heart with others?
What are ways we sometimes refuse to share our heart with
others?
Luke 10:27 He answered: "'Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength
and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as
yourself.'"
