The boat is now ready, and waiting to be filled by adventurous girlfriends like you! So hop onboard with Girlfriends Unlimited and Group Workcamps Foundation on an exciting mission trip to the jungles of Peru October 10-18, 2008!
This special trip is a unique “women serving women” mission to the river villages of the Amazon rainforests of Peru. Imagine yourself meeting and ministering God’s love to the women of these remote villages. Imagine teaching women a handicraft to help them increase their family income, or giving vital health information that could prevent an injury or illness. And just imagine this—you could share the love of Jesus and make a heart to heart girlfriend connection with a woman in the distant jungles of the Amazon!
You will travel on the 100 foot Evangelista, a boat built by a church in Pucallpa, Peru, to be a floating classroom, library, and medical center. The boat is also equipped for mission teams with bunk areas for sleeping, bathrooms, and showers. The staff onboard will run the boat and prepare meals—but wait! Before you prepare for a luxury cruise, remember this is a small ship traveling the through the jungles of the Amazon River. Be prepared for cramped quarters and cool (aka refreshing!) river water showers.
The boat will serve as your “home base” as you travel along the Ucayali River, experiencing the sights and sounds of the exotic undisturbed rain forests of the Amazon. You’ll stop at local villages to meet the generous and loving people of these remote communities and share the love of Jesus with the women through your service projects.
A “typical” day will involve daily devotions, serving others through mission projects, “God Sightings”, and evening inspirational worship times. You’ll also enjoy three meals a day prepared by the ship’s cook with a blend of American and indigenous foods (think “homemade”–rainforest style). Your entire trip will be led by highly trained, bi-lingual ministry-minded staff that have close national contacts to help design and chaperone your trip for the best experience possible.
